Outside Operations

How to use the ERPWorks Outside Operations window

Click the Outside Operations button to display the outside operations window. This window is configurable. Outside operations are typically manufacturing procedures that happen outside the facility and require a purchase order.

For example, outside operations could be: painting for factories that do not have their own paint booth, or heat treating for factories without that capability.

New outside operations will create new child item masters, with the item ID of the form [Parent ID]-[Operation Abbreviation]. For example, for a parent item with ID 123456, and a defined outside operation of “-PNT” for paint, a new child component will be created in ERPWorks with the item ID “123456-PNT”. The description of the child item will be of the form [Parent Description]-[Operation Abbreviation]. For the same example item above, if the parent item description were “WIDGET,MEDIUM WITH WHISTLES”, the child item description would be “WIDGET,MEDIUM WITH WHISTLES-PNT”.

Multiple outside operation items are possible. To add the additional child items, check the box in front of each desired operation.

Some outside operations may require a drawing number.

Selecting an outside operation will display any configured help text for that operation. The help can be configured to suggest a more complete description of the outside operation, possible suggestions for the manually entered drawing number values, etc.

When all desired outside operation child items are defined and drawing numbers are entered, click the Save button to return to the main window. The new child items will be added to the main display.
