Distribution Lists
ERPWorks can be configured to send notifications to lists of email addresses whenever item masters matching certain criteria are created or if product structure changes match certain criteria. A notification email contains the list of new or updated items that match the configured field-value combination. For example, if the match field is “Planner/Buyer”, a distribution list can be defined for each planner value, e.g. “Make to Stock”, so different sets of email addresses will receive different lists of updates. These notifications ensure that other company members can complete an item definition by adding supplemental item information, like manufacturing lead times or routings for “Make to Stock” items, or “Vendor” and “Lead Time” for “Purchased” items. This notification is automatic, and will go to the configured email addresses with item ID and item description information for any and all new items created with each import. Multiple notification emails are possible if new items of different match field values are created with a single import.
A special class of distribution list is supported for import modifications that are intended to impact work in progress for the updated items. ERPWorks does not change purchase orders or shop orders. Instead, notifications alert others that changes to an item’s bill of material as imported to the ERP system is intended to impact an open purchase order or shop order. A separate email list is supported for each match field value so that new items can be separated, for example, into purchased items for one distribution list and manufactured items for another distribution list. To initiate a notification that a change impacts work in progress, check the “Send update notifications” checkbox prior to clicking the Import button.
